General Information
The Public Works Department provides a broad spectrum of services to Southbury community, focused primarily on Highway and Transfer Station departmental operations, including road and bridge maintenance, snow and ice removal, solid waste and recycling operations, fleet management, and procurement of equipment and services.
Our operations span 40 square miles and encompass 126 miles of roadway.
The following is a brief overview of our primary responsibilities:
- Street/highway maintenance and construction
- Stormwater Management
- Operation of the Town Transfer Station for the collection and disposal of municipal solid waste and recyclables
- Procurement, maintenance and repair of all Town owned vehicles and equipment
- Street signs and line striping
- Street sweeping
- Snow/ice removal
- Miscellaneous support services to other Town agencies
