9/10/2026 - Southbury Announces Volunteer Appreciation BBQ

The Town of Southbury invites all residents to the upcoming Volunteer Appreciation BBQ on September 24, 2026, at 5:30 pm. The event will take place at the Ballantine Park Pavilion, 611 Old Field Road in Southbury.

This annual gathering recognizes Southbury’s First Responders, along with the many volunteers who give their time to support our town. It is a chance to say thank you in a relaxed setting and to spend time with neighbors, volunteers, and members of the community. It also offers an opportunity to meet members of various town boards and commissions, encouraging a stronger sense of connection and civic engagement across Southbury.

As it has become a tradition, the Knights of Columbus, Council 5066, will be at the helm of the barbecue, joined this year by First Selectman Tim O’Neil.

“”Southbury runs on volunteers’ and we are lucky so many people give their time and experience to our town,” said Southbury First Selectman Tim O’Neil. “I’m looking forward to showing my thanks to board and commission members, first responders like the Southbury Volunteer Fire Department, and everyone joining us, by helping at the grill.”

In keeping with the theme of “Community,” the organizers are asking guests to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the Southbury Food Bank, helping those in need throughout the town.

The event is free, but advance registration is required. Please register on the Town’s website at www.southbury-ct.org/volunteerappreciation by September 17, 2026.
