Veterans' Tax Exemption Programs in Southbury

New Veteran Exemption - Public Act 24-46

A recent Public Act 24-26 established a property tax exception for veterans who have a 100% service-connected permanent and total disability rating. The new law is in effect October 1, 2024 for the 2024 grand list. The new exemption will be reflected in tax bills July 2025.

If you hold a disability rating through the VA and have not updated the Assessor's office with your award letter, we are requesting a current VA Disability award letter. The award letter can be emailed to dpeters@southbury-ct.gov or rquijano@southbury-ct.gov, brought to the office or mailed to Southbury Town Hall, Assessor’s Office, 501 Main Street South, Southbury, CT 06488.

Benefit Summary Letters can be obtained online at Login.gov or by calling the VA at 800-827-1000.

Contact our office at 203-262-0674 with any questions or concerns.
