MESSAGE FROM P&R DIRECTOR

Thank-you to all the families who joined us at Art in the Park. Events like that could never be possible without the many hands and organizations involved. To those who provided painting, a craft, poetry, dancing, and music, thank-you for making our work so fun!

We are now getting ready for opening day at Settlers Park community garden and our next event, the Memorial Day picnic! This year our picnic will be right outside the Parks and Recreation building while contractors continue to work on renovations and upgrades to Ballantine Pavilion. The Memorial Day parade starts at 11AM and is followed by the Veteran's Ceremony on the Veterans Memorial Green. When the ceremony ends (around 12:15PM), we will have live music, food provided by Troop 1607, face painting, an inflatable slide & obstacle course, and hopefully, sunshine! If you aren’t around for the live music on Memorial Day, we’ve got you covered every Monday in July with live music at Settlers Park. Mark your calendars. In the meantime, enjoy the Spring weather, its vibrant colors and our beautiful parks and playgrounds before it gets too hot!

Program Highlights

CENTERGY – Drop in and Full Sessions

centergy class

Centergy is an invigorating 60 minute mind-body workout. It incorporates yoga and Pilates fundamentals with athletic training and a focus on mobility and flexibility. Emotive music drives the experience as you breathe and sweat through this choreographed workout. Centergy is a great stand-alone workout for stretching and working on balance and strength, or exercisers might treat it as recovery from more physically demanding sports, such as running. All you need to bring is a Yoga mat and water (bare feet are recommended, no street shoes or boots allowed, please bring a change of shoes if desired). Please note - participants must be able to get down on the floor and up from the floor for certain exercises.

The program is held at the Southbury Parks & Recreation building, 561 Main Street South, Southbury.

New full evening session starts on May 4, 2026. Drop-in morning and evening sessions are also available. Details and Registration
