5/20/2024 - Southbury Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony and Picnic on Monday 27, 2024

Southbury Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will take place on Monday, May 27 with kickoff at 11 AM sharp. The parade route will begin at the corner of Depot Hill Road and Main Street South. It will continue down Main Street South and end at the Veterans Memorial Park at which time the Ceremony will take place. All are invited to attend.

Main Street South between Depot Hill Rd and the Senior Center will be closed to traffic during the parade.

We offer some information provided by the U.S. Flag Code regarding our American Flag.

The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise. The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free. The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored so that it might be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way. The Flag Code states it is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flag staffs in the open. However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness. For more information, please refer to our US Flag Code.

Continue the celebration over at Ballantine Park for the Memorial Day Picnic starting at 12:30pm. Southbury Parks and Recreation is providing a bounce house, music, foam cannon, field game activities including a color run – dress to get messy! Boy Scout Troop 1607 will be selling hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks. Veterans will receive free food! Funny Faces by Kimmy will be on site to do small sized face paint and glitter tattoos free for attendees!
