4/15/2023 - Town Clerk: Absentee Ballots for Referendum are Available

Absentee ballot applications are available at the Town Clerk’s Office for the Town of Southbury 2023-2024 budget and the Pomperaug Regional School District #15 2023-2024 budget for the referendum being held on May 3, 2023. Registered electors of the Town or United States Citizens, who are eighteen years or older and own taxable property assessed at $1000.00 or more on the October 1, 2022 Grand List, can vote in this referendum. Ballots cannot be mailed from the Town Clerk’s office for a referendum. 

To obtain an absentee ballot, voters must complete an application. Once the completed application is received and verified by the Town Clerk’s office, a ballot will be issued. Absentee ballots must be given to the applicant in person or to the applicant’s designee. Ballots must be returned to this office before the close of polls, 8:00 P.M. on the day of the referendum. The Absentee Ballot Drop Box will be open to receive ballots located at the Town Hall upper parking lot entrance.

Absentee ballot applications for a referendum are available at the Town Clerk’s office or from the Town of Southbury website at www.southbury-ct.org.

This referendum has four questions.

QUESTION #1

“Shall the Town of Southbury appropriate $22,524,198 for the municipal budget and approve the Special Revenue Fund appropriations for the fiscal year July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024?”

QUESTION #2

“Shall the $1,300,000 appropriation and bond authorization for the planning, design, acquisition, construction, equipping and furnishing of a community pool and bathhouse at Ballantine Park be approved?”

QUESTION #3

“Shall the proposed 2023-2024 budget of the Pomperaug Regional School District # 15 in the amount of $82,367,959 be adopted?”

QUESTION #4

“Shall Regional School District Number 15 appropriate $11,275,000 for costs related to various capital improvements and renovations to district schools and facilities, and authorizing the issue of bonds and notes in the same amount to finance the portion of such appropriation not defrayed from grants?”
