6/15/2021 - Volunteer Wanted to Serve on Community Relations Task Force

The Town is looking for a member of the Southbury community to join our newly formed Community Relations Task Force. This task force will focus on promoting acceptance and understanding of all citizens and work to improve relations within the community. Interested residents must submit a letter of interest of no more than 500 words to select7@southbury-ct.gov by July 30th, 2021. Letters can also be dropped off in the First Selectman’s Office at Town Hall. Please direct questions to the First Selectman’s Office at 203-262-0647. "The Community Relations Task Force promotes acceptance of all members of the Southbury community and focuses on advancing understanding of the diverse and multicultural makeup of its citizens. The Task Force collaborates with existing organizations such as the Region 15 School District and local religious institutions to advise the Board of Selectmen on ways to improve equity, equality and inclusion in all sectors of the community."

The Task Force consists of a Southbury high school student, a member of the clergy, a community representative, senior resident and a Selectman from each political party. An advisor from the Region 15 School District will be a non-voting member.
