3/25/2020 - COVID-19 Southbury Update

At 2:00 p.m. today, the Pomperaug District Department of Health Director informed the emergency operations center of the death of a Southbury resident due to the coronavirus disease. The resident was a 75 year old female who passed away on March 20, 2020. The health director was not informed of this information until this morning by state officials.

We are deeply saddened by this loss to our community. However, it also stresses the importance of continued preventative procedures including:

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Adhere to social distancing staying at least 6 feet away from others
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
    or Use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol
  • Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Limit movement in the community
  • Limit visitors in your home
