3/17/2020 - COVID-19 Southbury Update

Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Update:

  • The Town of Southbury has declared a Local State of Emergency.
  • All Southbury historical buildings are closed.
  • Although the Southbury Library is closed, books and media can still be returned to the drop box outside the Southbury Library.
  • The Southbury Building Department will be available for permit issuance between the hours of 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., through scheduled appointments only, until further notice.
  • Southbury Police is not fingerprinting for pistol permits, job applications or routine matters until further notice.
  • Income Tax prep by Vita (VITA) at Senior Center is now postponed. People with appointments will be contacted within the next week by a VITA volunteer. Those that had appointments will be given preference when the program resumes.
  • The Connecticut Food Bank Mobile Pantry Truck will not be at the Southbury distribution site until further notice. Any questions can be directed to the Connecticut Food Bank at 203-469-5000 or cfb@ctfoodbank.org.
  • The scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2020 Household Hazardous Waste collection event in Naugatuck has been postponed.
  • Beginning Thursday, March 19, 2020 all Stop & Shop stores will open earlier (daily from 6:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.) to serve customers who are age 60 and over only.
  • The State of Connecticut has partnered with United Way of Connecticut to launch an information hotline for questions from the public regarding issues related to the spread of COVID-19. People who have questions can call 2-1-1 or text “CTCOVID” to 898211.
