The Town of Southbury is hiring a part-time Finance Assistant. The position is 29 hours/week and offers vacation, sick and holiday pay. Salary range is $23.00-$25.00/hour. The position provides administrative support to the Finance, Tax and Assessor’s Offices.
Responsibilities
- Performs accounts payable duties ensuring timely entry and payment of invoices
- Prepares for and assists with internal and external audits
- Helps with budget preparation
- Maintains office files and accounts payable files
- Updates payroll system with changes to employee information and assists employees with login issues
- Collects and processes real estate, personal property and motor vehicle tax payments
- Assists Assessor’s Office with property valuations for the annual grand list
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of general accounting and bookkeeping principles
- Computer technology skills and knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to develop effective relationships with staff, supervisors and the public and possess well-developed interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and maintain confidentiality
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in finance, accounting or related field and at least one year of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
