Community Read Aloud Night at Gainfield Elementary School

I had the distinct honor of celebrating reading at the GES Read Aloud event. I joined Southbury Public Library Children’s Librarian Jen Kistner, Southbury Police Officer Paul Malaspina, Sergeant John Jaskolka, and Southbury Volunteer Fire Department Captain Jared Unterborn with teachers and other community members at the event where we each took time to read aloud to the kids. Thank you to Gainfield principal John Romeo for hosting a great event which helps strengthen the connection between schools and the broader community. View more photos.
State Officials at Southbury Training School

Land Use Administrator Jordan Marcinko and I met with the Department of Housing Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno, Department of Housing Senior Advisor Greg Ugalde, and Paul Hinsch of the Office of Policy and Management. We toured the Southbury Training School Campus and discussed options for affordable housing.

It will take place at lower/west parking lot of Southbury Town Hall, next to the three newly planted cherry trees. Come join us and help us celebrate our 28th consecutive Tree City USA award and see the new trees planted by the Town of Southbury Public Works Department.
Afterwards, we will walk over to a bench next to the upper/east parking lot and dedicate it to all the Public Works department team members past and present who have and continue to support trees in the town.
