The Town of Southbury is hiring a seasonal Aquatics Supervisor hourly compensation is $25.00 per hour with expected hours at 35 per week. This position is eligible for prorated
vacation, sick and personal leave.
The Aquatics Supervisor oversees the operations and administration of the Southbury Town Pool and its programs, including swim lessons, Sharks Swim Team, camp swim lessons and
special events.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge and experience with pool mechanical equipment and chemicals.
- Directs and oversees swim programs, including swim lessons, lifeguard training and all other aquatic programming.
- Responsible for interviewing and hiring prospective lifeguards, head guards, swim instructors and pool attendants.
- Sets up and conducts staff trainings, orientations and meetings throughout the aquatics season.
- Responsible for employee scheduling throughout the aquatics season and verifies weekly payroll for aquatics staff.
- Tracks and monitors revenue and expenditures to stay within the allotted budget.
- Creates, receives, and reviews all reports pertaining to assigned facilities.
- Responsible for setting up registrations for swim lessons and swim team in the department’s software system.
- Coordinates and oversees special events related to the aquatics division.
- Develops flyers, brochures, advertisements and news releases to promote aquatics facilities.
- Communicates with supervisors, aquatics staff, camp staff, parents and participants.
- Evaluates the swimming programs, personnel and aquatics facilities.
- Establishes excellent customer service and customer relations with pool patrons and program participants.
- Works nights and weekends as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of aquatics field and water safety practices.
- Experience and ability to lead and supervise staff.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of aquatics facilities and practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with staff and the aquatics community.
- Organizational and administrative skills and ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks effectively.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and at least one year of experience within the aquatics field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Must possess a valid motor vehicle license.
