The Town of Southbury is hiring an Inland Wetlands & ZBA Coordinator to join the Land Use Department. The Inland Wetlands & ZBA Coordinator provides administrative and technical support to the Land Use Department, Inland Wetlands Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA).
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 35 hours per week
Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post legal notices for Inland Wetlands Commission and ZBA meetings.
- Create agendas and meeting packets; attend meetings, take notes, prepare minutes and maintain commission calendars.
- Verify GIS data for wetlands setbacks and addresses.
- Process applications, collect fees, track permits and timelines.
- Draft correspondence related to approvals, violations, and abutter notifications.
- Support inter-departmental workflows and assist customers with online permitting software.
- Assist with implementation of the Farmer’s Market, including vendor communications and permits.
- Manage office supplies, mail and filing.
- Provide guidance to applicants on land use questions and facilitate problem-solving.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of municipal land use procedures, zoning, and wetlands regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn online permitting systems.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Comfortable working with a high volume of applications and public inquiries.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma plus an associate degree in a related field. Minimum of two years of administrative and land use experience. Specialized coursework in land use, planning, wetlands, zoning, or GIS preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Must complete CAZEO certification within two years of hire.
