2/14/2024 - The Monroe Doctrine on February 29, 2024

On Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 2-3:30pm on Zoom and streamed to the Kingsley Room, join us for a virtual program and learn about the Monroe Doctrine, a cornerstone of early American foreign policy.

December 2023 marked the 200th anniversary of the Monroe Doctrine. The Monroe Doctrine is the American foreign policy set in 1823, that the United States forewarned the imperial European powers against interfering in the affairs of the newly independent Latin American states or potential United States territories. The Monroe Doctrine set the stage for continued American expansion, west across this great and wondrous land. Join us as we explore the history and impact of the Monroe Doctrine.

Mark Albertson is the historical research editor for the Army Aviation magazine, and the historian for the Army Aviation Association of America. He has taught classes on military history at Norwalk Community College as well as the Lifetime Learners Institute. Albertson has authored several books on military history.
