5/31/2023 - Family Science Afternoon with the CT Science Center on June 25, 2023

The Southbury Public Library invites interested 3rd-8th Graders and their families to join us for a special family science afternoon with the Connecticut Science Center from 1-3pm on Sunday, June 25, 2023 in the Kingsley Room of the Southbury Public Library.

From 1:00pm to 1:45pm, enjoy the Extreme Air Show. See the amazing power of air as we make objects hover in mid-air, break a board using only a ping pong ball, and explore the effects of the pressure that surrounds us. You’ll be blown away by our extreme air finale!

Afterwards from 2:00 to 3:00pm, enjoy Hands-On Activity Stations with Connecticut Science Center Educators to explore different scientific principles! Our stations will include one on static electricity, where you can have a hair-raising experience with a Van de Graff generator!

During the gap between the Extreme Air Show and Activity Stations or while you are waiting for an Activity Station to become available, stop by the Brown Room to browse some fun science books and register for Summer Reading if you haven't already!

Learn more and register on the library’s website at www.southburylibrary.org/events. This event is free and open to residents of any town. This event is aimed at Grades 3-8 and their family members; older tweens and teens may attend individually if they would like. Family members younger than third grade are welcome to join alongside an adult as long as they don't mind sitting through the presentation. Older family members are invited to join us, too! Thank you to the Library Board of the Southbury Public Library for their generous support of this event.
