4/11/2023 - "My Century" Book Talk by Dr. Kristaps Keggi on April 20, 2023

On Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 2-3:30pm in person in the Kingsley Room, join us as local author and physician Dr. Kristaps J. Keggi discusses his memoir “My Century.”

“Kristaps Keggi is the epitome of the American dream.” - Senator John Barrasso

Here is the story of a lifetime. As a boy in Latvia during World War II, Kristaps Keggi and his family dodged both Soviet Communist and German Nazi invaders, eventually escaping to America. Arriving in New York City, Kristaps proved to be a quick learner, eventually moving on to Yale College, Yale Medical School, and then, in 1965, to the harrowing war in Vietnam, where he was a fast-thinking, common-sense surgeon in the U.S. Army’s first MASH unit there.

Back in the States, Kristaps and his wife, Julie, built a family together while he embarked on a career as a pioneer and innovator in the field of orthopedic surgery, especially hip procedures. He became a renowned teacher and mentor to med school students and young doctors, both at home and abroad. It’s a powerful and well-told story, an inspiring microcosm of mid-20th-century America and the world at large.

Copies of "My Century" will be available for sale.
