On Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 6:30-7:30pm, in the Kingsley Room, Joe Carter, Harvie S and Graciliano Zambonin will perform the music of Brazil.

Join us as the Joe Carter Samba Rio Trio celebrates the music of Brazil – Samba, Bossa Nova, Choro, Baiao and more. Their repertoire features songs by Brazil’s classic composers such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Moacir Santos, Jacob do Bandolim, Luiz Bonfa, Pixinguinha, Baden Powell, Ary Barroso and others. This sound will be combined with their Jazz background to be the best of Music from “Both Sides of the Equator”.

Joe Carter is currently the Director of the Academic Music Program at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, where he teaches The History of Jazz, The Music of Latin America and directs the Jazz Ensemble.

Harvie S, award winning bassist, educator, composer, arranger, and producer, is continually challenging himself and his peers, expanding the borders of musical direction.

Graciliano Zambonim, born in Brazil and now based in the New York City area, has been an important contributor to the rich Brazilian Jazz scene in the U.S. He has recorded over 30 albums and is one of the first called New York drummers for this music.
