10/15/2021 - Virtual & In-Person Cooking Programs for Children

The Southbury Public Library Youth Services department is thrilled to welcome back the Registered Dietitians from Food Explorers for two programs this October. We’ll be offering a virtual baking program for families as well as a new program for preschoolers and their caregivers in the library.

Tiny Food Explorers – Tuesday, November 30 at 10:00 am in the Kingsley room. Join Tiny Food Explorers for some fun with food! Come and explore new flavors and textures while playing games all about food and MyPlate! You’ll make a hands-on healthy snack that even the pickiest of eaters will be keen to try. All snack ingredients will be nut free but may contain dairy. No food will be shared. Preschoolers ages 2-5 & caregivers. Registration required. www.southburylibrary.org/events/tiny-food-explorers-1

Food Explorers Online: No Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake – Tuesday, November 16 at 5:00 pm live on Zoom. Join the Registered Dietitians from Food Explorers to make some delicious No Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake! This recipe is the perfect fall snack, and you’ll need the following ingredients: graham crackers or ginger snaps, brown sugar, butter, heavy cream, cream cheese, sugar, pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, cinnamon and nutmeg. You will need an electric mixer. Participants will receive a Zoom link and credentials the morning of the program. Recommended for ages 7 & up. Registration required.
