6/9/2021 - Summer Reading at the Southbury Public Library: Tails and Tales

The Southbury Public Library is announcing plans for Summer Reading 2021. This year’s theme is Tails & Tales and features animal stories. Running from Monday, June 19 to Friday, August 13, 2021, Summer Reading is all online this year. We're thrilled to participate in READsquared, an online summer reading program, thanks to the Connecticut State Library. Register ONLINE ONLY on or after Saturday, June 19 at 9:30 am.

Reading Challenges by Age Group

Children entering Kindergarten and younger may participate in our Pre-K Program. Keep track of every title you read and log it in READsquared. Earn extra points by participating in our challenges. One winner will be chosen each week and will receive a brand new book and gift card. School age children in Grades 1-5 may participate in our Children's Program. For every hour you read, keep track and log it in READsquared. Earn extra points by participating in our challenges. One winner will be chosen each week and will receive a gift card, sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.

Children and teens entering Grades 6-12 (and class of 2021 Graduates) may participate in our Teen Program. For every hour you read, keep track and log it in READsquared. Earn extra points by participating in our challenges. Each week will feature a raffle for a different gift card where one winner will be chosen; sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.

Online registration for the reading challenge and programs will be available for all children and teens ages 0-19 starting Saturday, June 19. The program will run until Friday, August 13.
