The Gloria Cachion Gallery at the Southbury Public Library will be showcasing the artwork of artist David Dooling from Thursday, September 4, 2025 through Monday, September 29, 2025.
David Dooling is also known as “Doc”. He is mainly a self-taught artist. He has broadened his horizons studying various art forms at Naugatuck Valley Community College but has mainly focused on landscapes, including realistic, impressionistic, whimsical, and plein air works. He has also crafted some new abstract works that will be presented before long at a separate exhibition.
David has been drawn to the natural world his entire life. He goes on to say:
“I’ve interacted with our environment in every conceivable way. I have enjoyed swimming, fishing, and boating in many rivers, ponds, lakes, streams, and seas and have captained my own vessel. I’ve investigated every nook and cranny of the forests while out foraging for edible mushrooms and have come to know the woods like the back of my hand. I have found the surrounding woodlands are full of beautiful features, having hiked and explored countless trails and having undertaken numerous intriguing adventures in the wilderness. I’ve gotten to know nature quite well over the years.”
David is driven to create, whether it be on stage as Doctor Rocker with his original band, Permanent Amnesia, as an artist, or as a book writer.
David is currently presenting a collection of acrylic works, many of which have been completed recently. He painted a series of wintry landscapes this past winter as he loves the snowy effect of winter’s grip, having been an avid downhill skier for most of his life with a passion for snowstorms.
