6/24/2025 - Renew Your Transfer Station Permit by September 1, 2025 Southbury residents wishing to use the town’s transfer station are reminded to renew their permit. The 2022-2025 stickers have expired on June 30, 2025. The residents are required to renew their permit by September 1, 2025. Permits are free of charge. Permits are for Southbury residents only. Any residents who refuse to allow their permit to be affixed to their vehicle will not be permitted to use the transfer station, in accordance with sec. 8-23 of the Town of Southbury’s Code of Ordinances. Residents are not allowed to take a permit on another person’s behalf or for a vehicle not present. One permit is allowed per resident. Permit Procurement Residents whose cars are registered in Southbury must obtain the permit at the Transfer Station. Vehicle registration must be provided to Transfer Station employees. Employees will remove the old permit, if present, and affix a new permit to the windshield of the vehicle. Employees will also collect information from each resident, including name, address, and license plate number. Southbury Transfer Station is located at 231 Kettletown Road, and open Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00am to 3:00pm. Stickers will be given out between 7 am and 2:15 pm. Temporary Permits Residents whose vehicle is not registered in Southbury must obtain a temporary permit at the First Selectman’s Office. Proof of residency and vehicle registration must be shown to obtain a temporary permit. Proof documents include a tax bill, lease, or mortgage statement. Temporary permits are valid for one year. Temporary permits must be affixed to the windshield by the resident. First Selectman’s Office is located at Southbury Town Hall, 501 Main Street South, second floor, and open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm, Wednesday 8:00am - 6:00pm. Archives
