5/27/2024 - Annual Memorial Day Parade and Picnic We welcome all to the 2024 Southbury Memorial Day Parade and Picnic. The Parade will take place on Monday, May 27, with a kick-off time of 11 AM sharp. The parade will begin at the Pomperaug Office Park parking lot, located across from CVS, Depot Hill Road, continuing down Main Street South, and ending at the Veterans Memorial Green, located between the Town Hall and the Senior Center/Park & Recreation Offices. Main Street South between Depot Hill Rd and the Senior Center will be closed to traffic during the parade. If you are interested in participating in the parade, please contact Mary Korsu, Chair of the Memorial Day Parade Committee at 203-264-0211 or visit Memorial Day Parade Committee page. Cancellation procedures: In the event, this event is canceled, notifications will be posted on the Town of Southbury's Facebook Page and an alert will be posted on Southbury Parks & Recreation's home page. The parade will be canceled but the ceremony will continue at the Senior Center/Park & Recreation Building. Join us afterwards at Ballantine Park for the Family Day Picnic. The picnic starts at 12:30 p.m. and will run until 3:00 p.m. There will be a variety of activities going on throughout the day, such as inflatables, face painting, foam cannon (dress to get messy), music, food and more. Boy Scout Troop 1607 will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks throughout the day for all to enjoy. You can buy food from them or bring your own.
