Every first Sunday of the month, Sustainable Southbury and EyeRecyle will host a free redemption day in Southbury. All redeemable bottles and cans will be accepted. Get cash back! Or you can donate them. This month, if people wish to donate their redeemable items, the proceeds will go to the BSA Troop 1607. Beginning Jan. 1, Connecticut's 5-cent redemption on eligible bottles and cans increased to 10 cents! EyeRecycle pays the full 10 cents per item even if the bottle/can is marked “CT 5 Cent REFUND”. Not sure if it is redeemable? Look near the barcode or recycle symbol to find the label that says CT 0.05 or 0.10 Cent REFUND. We have an express lane for people that have already bagged their redeemable bottles and cans in an EyeRecycle bag. You simply drop off your bag and get paid. EyeRecycle bags can be purchased at the event for $.50 cents/bag or at the EyeRecycle website. If you don’t have an EyeRecycle bag, our volunteers will transfer your bottles into an EyeRecycle bag that has a fill line for counting. Please make separate bags for the 1-liter bottles and the 2-liter bottles to speed up the transfer and ensure you receive the correct amount for your bottles. Place redeemable glass bottles (no wine or liquor bottles) in your own small cardboard box or a 6, 12, 18, or 24-pack cardboard carrier - we cannot accept loose glass bottles. A full EyeRecycle bag of 750ml bottles earns $20 cash back. Now you can also bring your used cartridges to the event and drop them off in the collection box! Sustainable Southbury will ship them to a cartridge recycling center and may receive a small donation from the recycler, which will help Sustainable Southbury continue its community work.
