10/8/2023 - 350th Anniversary History Walk & 20th Anniversary Phillips Farm Celebration

Due to the forecasted rain, the event has been moved to Sunday, October 8.

Have you ever wondered what it was like here in Southbury before we had paved roads and highways, or the railroad? How did folks get around? How did they reach each other to visit or conduct trade? Please come and join your hosts Joe Ruggiero, President of the Southbury Land Trust, and John Dwyer, our Town Historian, as they guide you on a hike along an ancient pathway here in Southbury that provided one of the first routes between the Southbury wilderness and civilization in the late 17th Century. Learn about the old Southbury families, like the Osbornes, Phillips, Stiles, and the Stowes; early local industrial pursuits; find out what a Melonhead was; and visit a historic stone arch bridge along our way! Take a walk through time, and learn as you go with this fun, outdoor community event.

Following the History Walk will be a large celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Southbury Land Trust conserving the Phillips Farm Preserve. There will be food trucks, tractor display, live music, a petting zoo, and many other activities. Click to view the full schedule.

Note: Please leave your pets at  home. No dogs will be allowed on the property on this day.
