11/4/2023 - History Talk: Trains and Train Stations in Southbury The program is full. Join John Dwyer as he invites you to “Take a Ride On the Highland Line,” a virtual tour with historical photos and drawings of the sites and the stops between Waterbury and Hawleyville. We will cover the story of the New York and New England Railroad from its conception to closing. He will also share dramatic tales of the loss of property, life and limb that rode these rails. John Dwyer and his family came to Southbury in 1984 to move into his wife's, Lynn, ancestral home. Their children were the 8th generation descendants to live there. The proximity to this heritage spurred an interest in antiquities into a study of local history. Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required.
