3/3/2018 - Amber Alert Event

Southbury Ambulance Association (SAA) will sponsor and host the 10th annual Rotary AMBER Alert Child ID Session along with the Danbury Rotary Club. The Rotary AMBER Alert Child ID Program brings the latest technology to the Amber Alert System. When your Child Goes Missing – Regardless of their Age- Every Minute Counts in Their Safe Recovery!

Often the Amber Alert program is associated with younger children, but any individual age 18 or younger can be registered in the AMBER Alert system. The child’s/teen’s colored digital picture is embedded on a wallet sized plastic card, along with minimal yet essential information, needed to find an individual in the event they go missing. In addition to the Amber Alert ID card, strongly encrypted identification data is maintained in the Amber Alert national database which the state police can access when a child/teen goes missing. This data is not connected to the Internet or any other system.

SAA has partnered with several organizations for this event: Southbury Fire Dept., Southbury Police Dept., and Dr. Kest’s dental office. Also this year the Metro-North Railroad Safety Education Program Coordinator will join the event with information on TRACKS (Together Railroads and Communities Keeping Safe), which is designed to educate about rail safety focusing on promoting safe behaviors at or around railroad grade crossings and tracks. Activities will include an ambulance vehicle tour, fire vehicle tour, face painting, and door prizes.
