5/25/2026 - Annual Memorial Day Parade, Ceremony and Picnic We welcome all to the 2026 Southbury Memorial Day Parade, Ceremony and Picnic. This year, as we celebrate our Nation's 250 Birthday, we honor our FIRST VETERANS, those who followed George Washington, who took up arms against England to fight for our new developing country. Therefore, we invite ALL PARTICIPANTS to dress in 1776 fashion to commemorate the founding of our country. We are suggesting a simple hat or long dress for the ladies, a tricorn hat, vest and knee breeches for the men. Come and be a part of this one-time celebration for our country. This is Southbury's time to show our patriotism to America as so many gave their lives fighting for her. The Parade will take place on Monday, May 25, with a kick-off time of 11 AM sharp. The parade will begin at the Pomperaug Office Park parking lot, located across from CVS on Depot Hill Road, continuing down Main Street South, and ending at the Veterans Memorial Green, located between the Town Hall and the Senior Center/Park & Recreation Offices. At that time, the Memorial Day Ceremony will begin. All are invited to be a part of the ceremony. Main Street South between Depot Hill Rd and the Senior Center will be closed to traffic during the parade. After the Memorial Ceremony, please join us outside, next to the Parks and Recreation building (in between Pomperaug Elementary School and Parks and Rec) for our annual Memorial Day picnic.
