3/19/2026 - Composting Made Simple

The Sustainable Southbury and the Southbury Public Library invite community members to dig into the world of composting with Backyard Composting Made Simple, an informative, practical program for gardeners of all experience levels.

Whether you’re new to composting or looking to improve your current system, this engaging session will explore:

  • The environmental benefits of composting
  • How compost enriches and supports the everyday garden
  • Easy, practical tips for getting started
  • Best methods for successful backyard composting

The program will be led by composting educator Bob Lavorgna, who brings extensive hands-on experience and a passion for sustainable gardening. Bob has taught “Composting for the Backyard Gardener,” a multi-week course for the OLLI program at the University of Connecticut Waterbury Branch. He has also mentored students in the UConn Master Gardener Program and presented gardening and composting programs throughout northwestern Connecticut.

Registration is requested.
