9/17/2025 - Employment Opportunity: Part-Time Custodian The Town of Southbury is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to clean and maintain the Police Department and Community Building, ensuring they are safe, sanitary, and presentable. This part-time role includes a variety of custodial and light maintenance tasks. Hours: 20–25 per week. Schedule Options: Monday - Friday, 6:30 PM-11:30 PM Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM-10:00 AM Hourly Rate: $20.00 – $22.00. Benefits: Eligible for sick, vacation, and holiday pay. Key Responsibilities: Clean and maintain floors: vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors Empty trash and recycling bins Sanitize and restock restrooms daily Rotate deep cleaning tasks across all assigned areas Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and assist with ordering Manage hazardous materials data sheets Respond to basic mechanical, plumbing, and electrical issues Remove snow from entrances and adjacent sidewalks during work hours and on-call Perform patching, painting, and basic carpentry repairs Conduct seasonal HVAC maintenance Assemble furniture and inspect building entrances for cleanliness and safety Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform manual labor and follow safety procedures Familiarity with custodial and maintenance equipment and materials Ability to assess and respond to facility needs Willingness to participate in ongoing training and education Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 1 year of related experience (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience) Valid Connecticut Driver’s License required Deadline to Apply: Deadline to submit applications is October 3, 2025.
