Reimagining the Riverfront

The City of Torrington has recently welcomed a new 60-unit affordable housing, mixed use development project to their downtown landscape. Learn more about the revitalization of this brownfield site that received more than $2 million in funding for remediation and cleanup. Remediation Funding was sourced from the City, EPA, Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments and the CT Department of Economic and Community Development. One of the State’s first projects that combine both affordable and supportive housing. Centrally located, this project ties to public parks, Franklin Plaza, and the Naugatuck River Greenway. Joining us on the panel are representatives from each aspect of this multi-partner project:

  • City of Torrington Mayor Elinor Carbone
  • Karmen Cheung, Project Manager, Pennrose
  • Michael Menard, Executive Director, The Arc of Litchfield County, Inc. (LARC)
  • Moderated by Rista Malanca, Economic Development Director, City of Torrington
