Get Out Get Healthy - Southbury Parks
Southbury has nearly 47 miles of hiking trails, great vistas, nature areas, picnic spots as well as ball fields, fishing, boating and so much more. Feel free to visit any of these areas and enjoy tremendous landscapes, commune with nature or partake in a variety of healthy activities in Southbury’s great outdoors.
One the left, you will find the list of parks and open spaces in Southbury. Click on any to find out its location, map and other information.
Recently, we have also produced a Parks Guide in cooperation with many town departments, boards and commissions and was made possible through an ACHIEVE grant secured by the Pomperaug District Department of Health. The free Guide can be picked up at these locations:
- Parks and Recreation Department (561 Main Street South)
- First Selectman's office and Town Clerk’s office (501 Main Street South)
- Southbury Public Library (100 Poverty Road)
- Pomperaug District Department of Health (77 Main Street N, Playhouse Corner - Suite 205)
We hope you and your family enjoy the leisure opportunities and variety of healthy activities available in our town.
Staying Fit in Southbury: Diverse Choices for a Healthy Community
To promote Healthy Lifestyles in Southbury, the Action Communities for Health, Innovation, and Environmental Change (ACHIEVE) Committee worked with the students at the Pomperaug High School on the video series highlighting different activities. The teacher, Kelly Pelletier, and her students produced eight short videos for the series. We invite you to see their efforts. Please click here to see the videos.
