Monday Concert Series
This summer's Monday evening concert series will include musical styles ranging from Irish ballads to Country and Rock. Concerts are free and open to the public. All concerts are held at the Memorial Green between the Southbury Town Hall and the Community Building. In case of rain of, the concerts will be held in the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building.
July 2: 6:30 – 8:30 pm “THE KERRY BOYS”
The Kerry Boys are Mark James, originally from the County Kerry Ireland, now a Cheshire, Ct. resident, and Pierce Campbell from Prospect, Ct’s official State troubadour for 2007/2008. Their humorous, high-energy show will have you clapping and singing along in no time, engaging you from start to finish with their wide collection of traditional and original Irish/Celtic songs performed with pristine harmonies and expressive guitar and mandolin. Tony Pasqualoni and Paul Neri join the group for larger shows.
July 9: 6:30-8:30 pm “CALIFORNIA DREAMERS”
California Dreamers bring the sounds and sights of the late 60’s “Flower Power” music to life with their Mamas and Papas tribute show. The vocals evoke the best of Cass, Michelle, Denny and John. California Dreamers offer the best of the vocal harmony pop/rock bands of the 60’s-The Zombies, The Monkees, The Turtles, Melanie, The Association as well as top hits of the 70’s by the Eagles, Fleetwood Max, the Grassroots and more.
July 16: 6:30-8:30 "MARY BETH SIPPIN AND GOLDRUSH”
Goldrush is a cutting-edge acoustic band that brings a powerful blend of country and bluegrass energy to the stage. Acoustic guitar, 5 string banjo, upright bass and mandolin deliver a solid bluegrass foundation that is beautifully colored by the rich tones of piano and pedal steel guitar. Featuring vocalist Mary Beth Sippin, Goldrush provides exciting entertainment both is sight and sound. The Goldrush repertoire features a mix of original songs, as well as classic country, swing, acoustic and traditional bluegrass songs.
July 23: 6:30-8:30 pm “'60s SATISFACTION”
The name says it all! You’ll be satisfied hearing your favorite 60’s tunes from all the great artists like the Beatles, The Stones, Procol Harem, Sam Cooke, Moody Blues, The Doors, The Turtles, and many, many more. Relive the era we all loved with Pierce Campbell on guitar and vocals, Tony Pasqualoni on bass, Loren Everts on piano and vocals and John Rispoli on drums. This band will have you on your feet singing and dancing from start to finish and leave you smiling at the end of the show.
Family Fun & Movie Night
Monday, August 14 at 6:30pm
There will be an outdoor movie, bouncy rides, an appearance by the Bossy Frog Band, face painting and food!
