The Registrars of Voters have begun the annual canvass of voters as required by Conn. General State Statute section 9-32.
The Federal Voter Registration Act of 1993, which became effective in January 1995, mandates that the canvass takes place between January1 and May 1 every year.
The purpose of the canvass is to verify the legal residence of registered voters of Southbury and to keep all registry records current and accurate.
Some voters may receive a letter a letter from the Registrar’s office requesting updated information. Everyone who receives a letter should respond to it.
Voters who fail to respond may have their voting status changed to “inactive,” they will have to provide the requested information the next time they vote.
