SOUTHBURY HOSTS THIRD ANNUAL VOLUNTEER FAIR
The Town of Southbury will host a Volunteer Fair on Saturday, August 27th from 9 AM to 12 noon at the Gazebo area of the Southbury Green on 775 Main Street South.
Over 40 nonprofit organizations will be on hand to discuss the services they provide and the varied volunteer opportunities they offer. These organizations span a wide variety of interests that include environmental preservation, senior citizen issues, youth activities, artistic outlets, emergency response, veterans’ groups and many more. The complete list of participating organizations and more information can be found on the Town’s website at: www.southbury-ct.org/volunteerfair.
For residents who are wondering how they can make a difference in Southbury, this is a perfect opportunity to find a volunteer program that matches their skills, interests and time schedule. High school or college students who are looking for a way to fulfill service hour requirements for classes and honor societies will also find this event helpful in identifying volunteer positions and projects that may be of interest to them. Additionally, kids (and adults) will be able to tour Southbury ambulances and fire vehicles.
Southbury would be quite a different place without the generosity of volunteers who provide services in many varied fields. This is your chance to find out how you can become involved, stimulate your mind, make new friends - and make Southbury an even better place to live, work, raise a family and retire!
The Volunteer Fair is sponsored in part by the Southbury Community Trust Fund at the Connecticut Community Foundation and the Southbury Economic Development Commission.
