8/29/2016 - EDC: Bridge Closure - Bullet Hill Brook Bridge/Oak Tree Hill Road

MEDIA RELEASE: August 29, 2016, Southbury, CT

Bridge Closure: Bullet Hill Brook Bridge/Oak Tree Hill Road

Pursuant to a safety Issue and the decision made to close the bridge on Oak Tree Hill Road, an adverse impact has resulted from the densely populated business area around that location

The town is working diligently to remedy this problem and are trying to minimize the impact on these businesses.

This comes at a pivoting business time for small businesses when traffic will increase due to many residents ending their summer vacations and the children starting school. Residents have gotten back into their routine and shopping in town has increased. We are also looking at the upcoming holiday shopping season.

After learning of this unfortunate happening that this bridge needed to be closed, I went on to visit many of the businesses in that area. The concerns by all that are effected were similar.

To satisfy the responsibilities of the Southbury Economic Development’s efforts to support all businesses in the Town of Southbury, we request that the First Selectman and all involved with this closure work expeditiously to resolve this issue.

I encourage all residents in the Town of Southbury and surrounding town residents to continue to support these businesses. Please also follow the prescribed alternate routes to ensure that these businesses stay vibrant.

The following business that will be effected and need your support are:
(Listing in no particular order & apologies for missing anyone)

 Newbury Place
La Luna Dance Wear
 Southbury Barber Shop
The Wholesome Pet  Splash Car Wash
 Southbury Liquor Store  Body Physics
Southbury Stone and Supply  Law Offices at Bullet Hill Rd
One Price Dry Cleaners  Medical Offices at Bullet Hill Rd
Playhouse Corner Businesses  Pomperaug Office Park Businesses

Thank you for your time and attention to this very important issue in our Town.
