TRACTOR MAC AT THE SOUTHBURY FARMERS' MARKET

The Southbury Farmers' Market is pleased to announce that local children's author Billy Steers and Tractor Mac will be visiting the Farmers' Market on October 6th, 2016 from 3-6 pm. Mr. Steers will have for sale the entire series of Tractor Mac books including the newest in the series Tractor Mac, Team Work and will also be available to autograph books. Tractor Mac will be available for pictures with his adoring fans. He is a 1948 Farmall Cub who stars in a series of popular children's books along with a host of other barnyard and farm friends. The other books in the Tractor Mac series include: Tractor Mac Learns to Fly followed by Tractor Mac You're a Winner, Tractor Mac Builds a Barn, Tractor Mac Harvest Time, Tractor Mac Farm Days, Tractor Mac Saves Christmas, Tractor Mac Farmers' Market and Tractor Mac Tune Up, Tractor Mac New Friend.

Farmers that are participating at the market are: Mitchell Farm from Southbury with vegetables and fruit, Stoneledge Hollow Farm from Southbury with vegetables, jams, jellies and organic eggs. Sunrise Sunset Farm of Bethlehem with all sorts of veggies and the most wonderful garlic you've ever tasted. Goatboy Soaps of New Milford with wonderful soap and body products. Daffodil Hill Growers of Southbury will be bringing their veggies, fruit, and honey. Averill Farm from Washington will be bringing their famous cider donuts along with pies using seasonal fruit, jams, dog biscuits, some gluten free cookies, peaches and apples. The Olive Oil Factory from Waterbury has a great selection of infused olive oils and vinegars to complete a meal. Sunset Meadow Vineyard has estate red and white wine from their Goshen Vineyard. Contented Critters of Newtown will have something for your furry friends, all natural handmade dog and cat treats. Hardcore Sweet will be on hand with cupcakes that have been featured on the Food Network. New to the market this year are Sonny's Grinders which features Asian Style grinders that can be eaten at the market or taken home to enjoy. Also Wave Hill Bread will be offering many different styles of their award winning bread. Eagle Wood Farm of Barkhamstead offers all natural pork, and eggs. Ornoque Farms Bakery of Shelton features fresh bakes pies in two sizes along with cookies.

Local high school student and singer songwriter Christian Winter will be performing at the market that day as well. Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition will be on hand to promote and educate on ways that you can help our rivers and streams.

October is Fire Prevention Month and Fire Marshall Barry Rickert will be at the market with information for your family about fire safety!

On October 6th and every week the market features a cooking demonstration and samples of what items are local and fresh that day along with live music. The Southbury Farmers' Market is producer only, so the farmer that is selling the veggies is also the farmer that grew the product or specialty food maker that made what you are buying.
