Southbury Fire Marshal Barry Rickert would like to warn residents about the emerging hazards of the hoverboards. Many U.S. schools and colleges have banned or restricted hoverboards in recent weeks and some cities banned them from public street and places as well. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the National Fire Protection Association and the Consumer Reports all released statements over safety of hoverboards and fire concerns related to the components that power the product.
