On November 15th Shirley MacLaine stars as a retired businesswoman who tries to control everything around her. When she decides to write her own obituary, a young journalist, played by Amanda Seyfried, sets out to find the truth, resulting in a life-altering friendship.
In the November 22nd film Eddie Murphy plays a talented cook who comes to work for a dying mother and her little girl. The 6-month arrangement becomes 15 years and creates a lasting family bond.
Winding up the month on November 29th is the true story of a salesman from Illinois, Roy Croc and how he built a billion-dollar empire after meeting the McDonald brothers, who were running a burger operation in the 1950s. Impressed by their speedy system of food preparation, Kroc, played by Michaeal Keaton, saw franchise potential and managed to take control of their company.
Because of licensing and copyright agreements, the Library cannot list the titles of the films. All begin at 1:00 PM in the Kingsley Meeting Room surround sound theater, with infrared listening system available, along with closed captioning. They are offered free to the public by Friends of the Southbury Public Library, with the videos provided by Connecticut Libraries. There will be no Wednesday afternoon films shown during December.
