Diane’s program is part of the Lu Burke Literary Series which was established several years ago by the Library Board of Directors to honor Lu Burke and her extraordinary bequest to the library. The Friends of the Southbury Public Library will provide refreshments. Registration is required. In Diane’s Meier’s novel The Season of Second Chances, a world of possibilities opens up for 48-year-old Columbia University professor Joy Harkness who leaves her job and starts a new journey by taking a position at Amherst College in Massachusetts. She encounters many personal and professional adventures and learns the importance of friendship, love, and what makes a house a home.
Diane is a marketing guru and president of MEIER, a NYC based marketing firm whose clients have helped define luxury marketing (from Neiman Marcus and DeBeers to Maximilan Furs, Kohler, Elizabeth Arden and Pierre Balmain). In the early 1970’s, she was the Public Relations Director of the National Organization of Women and was profiled in Barbara Love’s compendium of Feminist effort, the "Feminists Who Changed America, 1963 - 1975”. Her career has honed skills from strategy, writing, and design to public speaking. Diane was married to best-selling author and BBC broadcaster Frank Delaney until his passing earlier this year. From their partnership, she had much to observe about writing and speaking - from a front row seat.
