The Gloria Cachion Gallery at Southbury Public Library will host an exhibit of David Anderson’s “New England Impressions” from Tuesday, August 1 until Tuesday, August 29, 2017. The library is located at 100 Poverty Rd., Southbury, CT, 203-262-0626.
Mr. Anderson became interested in landscape photography 30 years ago and has been selling his photographs for the last 25 years. Many of his photos have been taken in western CT and especially Litchfield County which he considers to be a “very unique and special area”. He also has photographed in all of the New England states with the exception of Rhode Island which he finds ironic since Newport was the home port of the ship he served on in the navy.
When he first started taking photos, he shot exclusively with slide film and continued to do so for many years. When digital cameras first became available he resisted buying one but finally acquiesced spending almost $1,500. “ That was a big mistake” he said. “ That camera didn’t even take photos of as good a quality as any smart phone camera today.” He then waited a few more years before buying the camera he uses today. The use of a digital camera and a high end ink jet printer using archival ink and printing on archival paper now allows him to make his own prints which are far superior to the “R” prints he paid for in the past.
The exhibit will be open during regular library hours which are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M., Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 A.M. to 9 P,M., The library will be closed Saturday and Sunday during the month of August.
