Summer Reading Begins Saturday, June 17

Summer Reading at the Southbury Public Library will run from Saturday, June 17 through Friday, August 4th. Registration will begin on Saturday, June 17th at 9:30 am and must be done in person. This year’s theme will be Create! Join us for our reading incentive program as well as storytimes, program, and special events. The Summer Reading Program and all events are sponsored the Virginia Fabiani Memorial Gift Fund and the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.
The Reading Program is open to children of all ages. Babies and preschoolers birth to Kindergarten age may participate in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. Children will receive stickers for each book read and will be given a small prize each time they visit the library.
Independent readers entering grades 1-5 are encouraged to participate in our Grade School Summer Reading Incentive Program. For each hour of reading, our participants will receive a raffle ticket and are allowed to take a chance on a variety of great prizes including autographed books, an American Doll and clothes, gift certificates to area restaurants, and a host of other prizes generously donated by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library, local businesses, and individuals.
Teens entering grades 6-12 may participate in our Teen Summer Reading Incentive Program. For each hour read, teens take one raffle ticket. Weekly prize drawings for gift cards and other prizes are chosen each Friday.
All tickets must be in by 12 NOON on FRIDAY, AUGUST 4th.
