“Pericles, Prince of Tyre” A Live Dramatic Performance
The Southbury Public Library will celebrate its 9th annual adult summer series from June 3rd – July 29th. This year’s theme is “Shakespeare is Here,” and will include many exciting events such as music, genealogy workshops, lectures, hands-on crafts, author visits and much more. The adult summer series is made possible by the generous contributions of the Charles H. and Ella Emery Rutledge Fund, The Leroy Anderson Foundation and The Friends of the Southbury Public Library. Registration will be required for all programs.
The Valley Shakespeare Festival Company will kick-off the summer series with a live dramatic performance of Pericles, Prince of Tyre on Friday, June 3rd at 6:30pm in the Kingsley Room. A tale of riddles, revenge and perilous adventure, Pericles, one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays in his own time, is the story of a prince whose life is threatened after he solves the puzzle of a murderous king. Forced to flee across the seas, he embarks on an odyssey that will see him fall in love, lose a daughter, and eventually recover everything he thought he’d lost.
Valley Shakespeare Festival Company is a federally-certified non-profit theatre company based in Shelton. It is known throughout the Valley as the company which performs free full-length productions of Shakespeare plays in Shelton’s Riverwalk-Veterans Memorial Park each summer in July.
Registration is required and space is limited. Please call the library at 203-262-0626 ext. 130 to register.
