MEDIA RELEASE, June 21, 2016, Southbury, CT

Falconry and the Medieval World

The Southbury Public Library will host Julie Anne Collier of Wingmasters for a live-bird presentation on falconry. This special event is open to all ages and will take place on Friday, July 8th from 2-3pm in the Kingsley room.

Julie Anne will bring along several live birds-of-prey and talk about the biology of birds, hunting, and their use in the Middle Ages. Among our winged guests will be a Merlin Falcon, Kestrel Falcon, Red-Tailed Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, Red Horned Owl and Rough-Legged Hawk. This is a unique opportunity to see these birds up close.

Wingmasters is a partnership of two people dedicated to increasing public understanding and appreciation of North American birds of prey. Julie Anne Collier is a licensed raptor rehabilitators based in Massachusetts.

Registration is required. Please call the library at 203-262-0626 ext. 130

This event is sponsored by the Charles H. and Ella Emery Rutledge Fund and light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.
