Ann Leary will talk about her new book, The Children on Thursday, October 13th at 7:00pm in the library’s Kingsley Room. A book-signing will follow. The Hickory Stick Book Shop (Washington CT) will sell copies of her book. Ann’s program is part of the Lu Burke Literary Series which was established several years ago by the Library Board of Directors to honor Lu Burke and her extraordinary bequest to the library. The Friends of the Southbury Public Library will provide refreshments. Registration is required. Those planning to attend are asked to stop by the Reference Desk or call (203) 262-0626 x130, to register.

Ann captivated critics and readers alike with her acclaimed New York Times bestselling novel, The Good House (2013). After receiving rave reviews from The New York Times Book Review, People Magazine and USA Today, among many others, The Good House is currently in development for a feature film starring Oscar-award winning actors Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep.

Now, Ann is back with her much-anticipated new novel THE CHILDREN the mesmerizing story of a wealthy, but unconventional New England family, told from the perspective of Charlotte, a reclusive 29-year-old who has a famous (and secret) life on the Internet.

Ann has written two previous books, An Innocent, A Broad and Outtakes from a Marriage. She has written short fiction and essays for the New York Times, Ploughshares, NPR’s “You Must Read This,” among various others. Ann and her husband, Denis Leary, live in northwestern Connecticut.
