1/30/2016 - Live Well with Diabetes Workshop starts on January 30, 2016

The Pomperaug District Department of Health is offering an evidence-based program for persons with diabetes or pre-diabetes that is designed to be a complement to existing diabetes treatments and programs.

The program, offered at no cost to the participants, consists of six two-and-half hour sessions. It is open to persons who are diagnosed with Type II diabetes or pre-diabetes and their support person. Classes will be held at South Britain Congregational Church, 693 South Britain Road in Southbury, 1:30 – 4:00 PM every Saturday from January 30 through March 5. Snow dates are March 12 and 19.

Live Well With Diabetes is an interactive workshop where participants learn about managing their blood sugar levels, caring for their feet, managing sick days, fighting fatigue, eating healthy, enhancing communication, and building their confidence. Participants will learn skills and coping strategies to manage symptoms and stay more active in their lives.
