Mission/General Information:

Energy costs and the environmental impacts of energy consumption are a serious concern to the people and institutions in Southbury. Addressing these concerns requires leadership in the areas of energy efficiency, energy conservation and increased use of renewable energy resources by the government, businesses and residents of Southbury. Therefore, the Board of Selectmen of Southbury has formed a new Energy Task Force of interested residents of Southbury.

The Southbury Energy Task Force will identify and investigate all aspects of "energy" use by the Town, businesses and residents to include: costs, generation sources, conservation, efficiency, Information Technology, financing options and current and pending relevant legislation particularly dealing with incentives, rebates and grants for municipalities, businesses and homeowners.

The purpose of these activities is to analyze, formulate, inform and make recommendations to the Town Administrators for their action with respect to Town energy use and to disseminate information to the Town residents so they can make informed and sound decisions.
