Full Time or Part Time Positions

Transfer Station Operator. 40 hours per week, $23.41 per hour. Tuesday thru Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Performs various Transfer Station duties, including the checking and directing of residents and trailers, collecting monies, piling and crushing of waste and recycling materials, operating and maintaining the hopper, trailer truck and loader along with other duties as assigned. Helps residents with recycling and waste disposal. Fills in for Transfer Station Foreman when not present. Work frequently involves heavy lifting and strenuous tasks and is performed out-of-doors involving exposure to varying climatic conditions. Must be DEEP certified (or pass certification within 3 months) as a CT Transfer Station Operator and possess a valid Class B CDL (Class A CDL preferred) motor vehicle license. Temporary Summer Position at the Southbury Public Works Department. 40 hours per week, no benefits. Cuts grass, maintains planting beds, trims shrubbery and ornamentals, and performs other outside maintenance duties as assigned. Open until filled.

Teenscape Summer Camp Counselor. The Teenscape counselor will serve as an adult responsible for youth in a traveling day camp. Teenscape Counselor will be responsible for a group of teens that travel to a different activity location in the surrounding areas daily. Salary is $9.15 – 10.10 per DOE hour for approximately 35 hours for each of the six weeks of camp (June 25 – August 3). Click to view the Teenscape Camp Counselor Job Description.

Per Diem

Mini-Bus Driver/Utility – Per Diem. Per Diem Bus Drivers to transport elderly and/or disabled Southbury residents to and from appointments and the Senior Center. No prior experience necessary, although must hold State of Connecticut license with appropriate endorsements (minimum “F” endorsement), finger printing and current medical certificate from your physician. May also be used as a utility person to help with various tasks at the Senior Center. $13.00 per hour.
