Household Assistance
The Town of Southbury has support for household's requiring assistance. This assistance is provided through such sources as the Southbury Food Bank, the Southbury Fuel Bank and the Southbury Needy Fund. There is also support for phone bills, rental payments, roof repairs, gas money, medication and medical supplies, glasses for children, and dental bill assistance.

Southbury Fuel Bank: Clients are required to apply first to federal and state energy assistance programs. For those who qualify, assistance is offered only in crisis situations or after the client has exhausted all other forms of energy assistance benefits. For those who do not qualify for other assistance programs, assistance is offered on a one-time basis. Clients facing extreme financial crisis may reapply for assistance as needed. The fuel bank is a non-profit organization.
Southbury Food Bank: The Food Bank is open 2 days per week. It is housed at the Southbury Training School. Non-perishable food items are given along with a food voucher to the Southbury Food Center, where clients may purchase meat, milk, eggs or other perishable items. The Food Bank also does a basket program for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
Southbury Needy Fund: The Needy Fund is an on-going program that assists families throughout the year.
