The mission of Connecticut Probate District 22 is to be responsive to the needs of those who utilize court services and to serve all with respect and compassion.

Note: Beginning July 1, 2013, new Probate Court Rules are in effect.  These new rules impact applications to the court that are received as of July 1, 2013.  It is strongly recommended that applicants and prospective applicants familiarize themselves with these rules and utilize the new probate forms that are available on the State of Connecticut Judicial Department website.

Connecticut Probate District 22

 

The matters which Connecticut Probate Courts oversee include decedents’ estates; trusts; adoptions; parental rights; guardianships of children and adults with intellectual disabilities; conservatorships; matters affecting adults with psychiatric disabilities; and name changes. In carrying out its duties, Connecticut Probate District 22 strives to protect the rights of individuals while providing those who come before the court responsive service with respect and empathy.

Office Hours:

 

Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (For your convenience, the office is open during lunch.)


The court observes the same legal holiday schedule as the Town of Southbury.

 

If you need to visit:

Estate related matters: Please come to the office no later than 4:00 pm to allow proper time and assistance to open an estate.

 

Guardian/Conservator related matters: Please arrive at the office no later than 4:00 pm to allow proper time and assistance to open a guardianship and/or conservatorship.

 

Commitments: Please arrive at the office no later than 3:30 pm for emergency pick up orders, as paperwork must be delivered to the proper Police authority before 4:30 pm. If you have paperwork for judicial proceedings please arrive prior to 4:15 pm to obtain a date for hearing.

 

 

 The focus of the probate court is to provide friendly, responsive service to all.
However, Connecticut law prohibits probate court staff from giving legal advice.
