General Information:

The Information Technology function provides and maintains Southbury's investment in technology to allow town employees to access, utilize and share information, assisting them in providing effective and efficient services to the residents of Southbury. A key aspect of this mission is to provide current and prospective residents and businesses with a top-notch website to obtain information and do business with their town government.

The Information Technology Coordinator, a part-time member of the First Selectman's staff works with the Information Technology Committee, key staff and department heads, vendors and outside consultants to develop and execute an Information Technology strategic plan in order to ensure a meaningful, reliable and secure technology infrastructure.

Key aspects of the Town's technology infrastructure include:

  • Fiber optic based communications between key town facilities
  • Servers, Desktop Computers, Printers, Multi-function copiers
  • Southbury-CT.org town website
  • Varied Municipal Software Applications in most town departments
  • Email and Office productivity tools
  • Additional Information:

    April 2013  The IT Department has recently converted to a faster, more secure fiber internet connection and phone system with Charter Communications.  This change has given the Town a faster connection, more secure firewall and a cleaner, easier to manage phone and internet system.  The Town will realize a significant cost savings with this conversion and will benefit from a more reliable system.
